Community in a Box (CiaB) does away with these problems using a structured system of clearly defined and proven rules that allow publishers and their customers to build vibrant communities, direct them, and use them as the basis of incredibly powerful integrated marketing programs. The CiaB rules fall into three categories:
2) Community – defining the role of community editor in generating content, soliciting content from contributors, and in communicating with the site's users; defining the role of volunteer and compensated moderators in kick-starting and guiding site discussions, as well as monitoring the same to eliminate all ad hominem, off topic, or inappropriate postings; defining registration processes, which ensure that only qualified users can join and retain membership in the community. 3) Design – defining clear rules for the form and function of B2B community sites, including layout and relative weighting of different types of content (editorial, advertising, community message board, other); also, best practices for design of registration pages, and the placement of contextually served educational sponsor materials. The addressable universe for CiaB includes communities based on any industry, profession, or geography. Consumer plays are equally feasible. n-Server supports many, many different functions: It's a content management system; it's a message platform; it's a multimedia server (video, streaming audio, podcasts, and so on); it's an e-commerce engine. Hence the name – n-Server, because it supports n- times media, demographics, geographies, and so on. And where those features haven't been written for n-Server, it seamlessly interworks with third-party software applications to get the job done. It's also important to say what n-Server isn't. It isn't a wiki platform, though it contains wiki features. It is a B2B publishing platform – designed from the ground up to do exactly what we need it to do, as publishers, for our customers, but nothing else. There are significant benefits to this approach – including the ability to launch sites very quickly, and to automatically generate extremely detailed custom reports for our clients. A licensable version of n-Server will be available in 2011. For more information on n-Server contact sales@deusm.com Digital Audio Shows
So how do they work? Each Audio Show is hosted on the Community Website, where it is promoted prominently to select portions of the UBM email database. The shows are broadcast live over the Internet, with the audience listening in from their computers. Contextually relevant sponsor educational materials (such as whitepapers) are embedded next to the audio player where they can be downloaded during each show. These materials are also available in the events' archives for downloading later. An instant messaging application sits underneath the audio player, allowing users to discuss the event with other audience members. When the audio concludes, the presenter of the audio show and the guests then join the online chat session, enabling participants to interact directly with the show's stars. It is this unique mashup of audio and chat that makes Digital Audio Shows so exciting, converting each event from a "sit back and listen" experience to a "lean forward and become part of the show" happening. UBM DeusM makes it incredibly easy to participate as a sponsor in our Digital Audio Shows. To start, we will develop a proposed show calendar on the topics or themes of your choice in consultation with you. We also provide a presenter and marquee-name guests for each show. As sponsor, you choose whether to have one of your employees or customers take part in each show; we will guarantee a successful event, whatever level of live participation your prefer. DeusM is excited to announce that it now offers LIVE video broadcasting capability on all CiaB and CAP community sites. Use this feature to broadcast interviews with senior executives, panel discussions, or lectures on the latest business issues in your target market. Video programming is broadcast live on your community using the latest state-of-the-art IP simulcasting technology. Audiences view the interviews from their computers, and an instant messaging application allows them to discuss the event with other audience members. After each show, the presenters and guests join the online chat session, enabling the audience to interact directly with them. It’s this unique mashup of live video and chat that makes UBM’s live video streaming so much more exciting than a typical Webinar. This mashup of audio/video and IM is delivering astonishing levels of engagement on several communities run by DeusM – with many sessions generating more than 1,000 messages each. The videos will be broadcast live from your community and will also be syndicated on UBM, as well as running on the top three social video networks: YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion. Subsequently the shows will be archived in a video library on your site where they will be available for repeat viewing by your community’s users. Each interview will include intro/outro footage branded to your company. Presenters will also give you shout-outs at the start and end of each broadcast and thank you for making the program possible. Contextually relevant sponsor educational materials from your company will be embedded next to the video player for downloading.

The Online University is based on a unique mashup of streaming audio, instant messaging, and contextually placed educational materials. A faculty of invited expert tutors tackles topics in a dedicated week of interactive tutorials where students ask questions of the tutor, discuss knotty issues with their fellow classmates, and download a wealth of additional learning materials. (For those who can’t attend live, seminars are also archived; and the live chat message board for each lecture is available 24 hours a day, allowing the online educational discussions to be ongoing.) The Online University delivers unprecedented levels of engagements through its use of "Game Dynamics" – key behavior drivers more commonly found in popular online consumer games such as World of Warcraft and Farmville. They include the "appointment dynamic" (encouraging participants to attend to a scheduled task and gain rewards for doing so, in the Online University’s case by earning rank, reputation, and course honors for taking part in the curriculum at scheduled times); the "progression dynamic" (appeals to participants' desire to complete tasks/achieve goals, in this case by working through the syllabus); and the "communal dynamic" (working together to achieve a goal, in this case by brainstorming solutions to course problems with other students on the Online University’s message boards). Students enrolled in the Online University earn points for the number of courses they attend, and extra credit is earned for interactivity and for sharing information with their peers. The number of points they collect dictates both when they graduate and what grades they receive. Students track their progress in the school by clicking on their College profiles. Graduates each receive a certificate (real, not virtual) signed by the Dean of the Online University. They also are recognized in the Role of Honor on the site on which the college is hosted, as well as on the site’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Note: A recent Online University program run for one of UBM DeusM’s major clients attracted a total of 5,396 students, who generated an astonishing 55,390 messages about course work.
